Bathroom renovations are the second most common project we do, right behind kitchens. And like kitchens, the cost question is always the first one. Here's a straight answer.
The Short Answer: $30,000 to $85,000
That's the range for a full master bathroom renovation in Summit County. Guest bathrooms and secondary baths run $15,000 to $35,000. The spread, again, comes down to scope and finish level.
| Tier | Range | What's Included | Common In |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry-Level Renovation | $30,000 – $45,000 | Complete gut and rebuild. New tile, new vanity, new shower, new fixtures. No layout changes. Most common in homes built pre-2000 where the original bathroom has never been touched. | Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, Copley. |
| Mid-Range Renovation | $45,000 – $65,000 | Higher finish materials. Walk-in frameless glass shower, freestanding tub, heated floor, custom vanity, designer tile. | Fairlawn, Richfield, and Silver Lake. |
| High-End Renovation | $65,000 – $85,000+ | Bookmatched stone slabs, steam shower, radiant heat throughout, full custom millwork, chandelier or specialty lighting, spa-level finish. | Hudson, Bath Township, and Montrose-Ghent. |
What Drives Bathroom Costs
Tile
Tile is labor-intensive. Large format stone tile costs more to set than 4x4 ceramic, both in materials and in the time it takes to lay it correctly. A full tile job covering the floor, shower walls, niche, and curb can easily reach $8,000 to $15,000 in combined materials and labor. For discerning finishes with bookmatched slabs or specialty stone, that number climbs further.
Shower Configuration
A tiled shower with frameless glass costs more than a prefab unit. A steam shower with body sprays costs more than a standard shower. A walk-in doorless shower, one of the most popular configurations we build, costs more in waterproofing and tile work than a shower with a door because there's more surface area to waterproof and more visual continuity to get right. How you configure the shower is one of the biggest single variables in the final number.
Plumbing
Moving a toilet or relocating a shower drain requires opening the floor and rerouting pipes. That adds cost and time. If the layout stays the same, with fixtures in the same positions, plumbing costs stay manageable. The moment you want to move things around, budget for it explicitly.
Vanity
Stock vanities cost $500 to $2,000. Semi-custom runs $2,000 to $6,000. A full custom built-in vanity with millwork surround: $6,000 to $15,000 or more. The vanity is often where homeowners try to save money, and often where they end up wishing they'd invested more. A beautiful shower behind a cheap vanity is a visual mismatch that's hard to ignore every morning.
The AK Renovations Bathroom Process
Design before construction. Every finish selected, every fixture confirmed, every measurement documented before we touch anything. Tile ordered and on-site before demo begins. No decisions made on the job site.
This matters more in bathrooms than almost any other room. A bathroom is a small space where everything is visible. There's nowhere to hide a bad decision. We plan accordingly.
"The bathroom projects that go wrong are the ones where decisions get made under pressure during construction. We eliminate that entirely."
